The Faculty of Law in Iași is involved in numerous competition type events, such as the Faculties of Law Hexagon and moot court competitions.

The Faculties of Law Hexagon

The Faculties of Law Hexagon is a national competition in which the most prestigious faculties of law in Romania participate. The competition was organized for the first time in 1970 (in a “triangular” form) and brought together the Faculty of Law of the University of Bucharest, the Faculty of Law of Babeș-Bolyai University of Cluj and the Faculty of Law of Alexandru Ioan Cuza University of Iași.

Today, the Faculties of Law Hexagon is an informal consortium of excellence in legal studies in Romania, gathering the Faculties of Law of the University in Bucharest, the Babeș-Bolyai University of Cluj, the University of Craiova, the Alexandru Ioan Cuza University of Iași, the Lucian Blaga University of Sibiu and the West University of Timișoara.

Through their teaching staff, these six faculties contribute to the national and European legal environment, with scientific research in the field of law (treatises, courses, monographs, legislative reviews, articles and studies). The cooperation within the Hexagon takes place through continuous dialogue on coordinating the teaching plans and joint scientific activities (writing scientific works, organizing conferences, seminars, scientific sessions).

The challenges of the Faculties of Law Hexagon are divided in two sections, as follows:

– The scientific section: civil law, criminal law and constitutional law;

– The sports section: football, streetball, chess and table tennis.
