International Conference “Legal Perspectives on the Internet” Conference, with the topic “Law Evolution Through Technology"

The Faculty of Law of “Alexandru Ioan Cuza” University in Iasi, in partnership with the Faculty of Computer Science and the National Institute for Training and Professional Development of Lawyers – Iasi Territorial Center and Wolters Kluwer Publishing House Romania are organizing the third edition of the Conference

“Legal Perspectives on the Internet”,

- “Law Evolution through Technology”-

Technological development happens at such a fast pace that new and different challenges arise in the field of law, which are still awaiting solutions. The expectancy attitude that legal experts have embraced so far does not appear to be efficient. Perhaps it is time for a new approach: instead of waiting for legal problems to appear due to the multiple implications the Internet has in the field of law and then think of solutions, maybe they should anticipate, pre-visualize solutions to problems that are yet to arise.

For the third edition of the “Legal Perspectives on the Internet” Conference – “Law Evolution through Technology”, which will take place October 26th, starting 10.00 o’clock, we are inviting you to debate the implications the Internet has on law from a new angle. With the help of IT professionals, jurists can attempt to identify the metamorphosis of traditional legal concepts by including a new variable, the Internet.

Keynote Speakers:

Dr. Eleni KAPROU, Lecturer in Commercial Law, Brunel University London, UK:

Technology as friend or foe: Regulating for vulnerable users

Dr. Mateja DUROVIC, Reader in Contract and Commercial Law, King's College London, UK:

The consumer law challenges of the 4th industrial revolution

Dr. Ioana Maria COSTEA, Reader in Financial Law, Alexandru Ioan Cuza University, Romania, Vice-Dean of the Law School:
